To those thinking of lifting....
After just putting my 99 back to stock for a trade in, I can honestly say if I never use spring compressors ever again, I will be happy :pat:
In an ideal world, front coilover suspension mods will be limited to switching out OEM units for replacements with adjustable spring platforms. (Such as Sway-a way)
To replace my entire front end last night (both side springs and shocks) starting with the truck on the ground takes around 30 mins.
However, re-assembling the stock springs onto the shocks takes at least an hour if not twice that of hard grunt work. The compressors slip n slide, sometimes you have to start over.
Don't get me started on how much effort is required to get spring spacers assembled
So, you heard it here folks, any lift on my 4th gen will be strictly via replacement units in front and longer springs in back. The other thing you notice is how much better engineered the SAW set up looks than the OEM steup.
I am done with spacers and spring compressors....
(now if I get my hands on a nice pneumatic factory compressor then all bets are off )
