Is the Subie paid for? Sedan or wagon?
Also, Isn't it still under warranty?!!? It's a 2001!!
I would NOT trade down unless I SERIOUSLY needed the cash. Keep the Subie, its an awesome car. My friend rolled his 95 Legacy Wagon at 50mph...took it like a champ!

Yeah the 3.slow is underpowered, and has some problems, and yeah the 3.4 is quicker and such. But the 2nd gens are getting used less and less as mommi-taxis, so more and more the 2nd gens in my area are getting for the hardcore folks. Also the 2nd's are harder to get any height on rushmore if you were thinkin of doing that, the 3rd gens have a better susp setup than do the 2nds. But the 2nds look a tad more rugged, just as the 1st's look more rugged than the 2nds, all in tastes. I'd rather go with a land crusher, but they are waaaay up there... my .02 worth
