Are there different types of heads for 22re?

I noticed that the 2 center bolt holes that hold the header on the head are not flush with the rest of the holes in the head (exhaust side),if that makes sense.Looking down on the head ( exhaust side) the 2 center holes are pushed back about 1/8th of an inch. Are there spacers to put in there or is it for an earlier/older model 22re?Some I have seen are flush with the other holes, some are not.I had my exhaust leak fixed on my thorley header and all of a sudden it started leaking again, this time through the center mounting hole on the header hole.Is there supposed to be exhaust coming out of that hole?

The exhaust is coming from the center bolt hole in between the # 2 and 3 cylinder in this pic.Is that hole for emissions on some engines?Mine just has an o2 sensor. The oem gasket I got doesn't even have a hole for that bolt.I'm using the thorley gaskts right now and they are leak free.

there are differences, there were early 22res and later 22res.... not sure if that matters in your case though

I know that there is a Thorley header for 84-87 and 88-95.I looked at the 88-95 header and it had air injection setup but didn't see any other differences.I guess my main question is should there be exhaust coming from that center hole?I have this header.

Here is a link with some others.

Well,I just put a bolt in and the leak stopped.I don't know why the exhaust was coming out of that bolt hole but it's fixed.

i know that the 20R and '81-84 22R/22R-E only had one bolt in the center instead of two or three.
