Is there a cat-back for a 2000 other than Jardine and TRD?
Does anyone know if there is another cat-back kit for 2000's besides the Jardine and TRD one? It seems to me that both require the dual cat, which I don't have. Also, any good words about the K&N FIPK filter kit? I was thinking about going with INJEN.

I have a single cat TRD exhaust. They make them for dual and single cats. Stay away from the K&N kit. Not worth the money. Read through some of the other post on this forum regarding exhaust systems and intake systems.

If your truck has only one catalytic converter, you can use the Borla Exhaust for the 96-98 trucks. Same goes for PerformanceProducts and Gibson systems. I'm biased, but I really like my Jardine. You could also have one built for you.
TruckPerformance carries the Borla, Gibson and Jardine systems for the 96-98 models.

Go to your local neighborhood muffler shop and have them make you a custom Cat-back system. You may be surprised how much cheaper it'll be. I know when I was looking at systems, I didn't want to spend $500-1000 on a "brand name" system.
My local shop made me a 3" Cat-back with muffler for about $150.

Still, it's cheaper to go to a good exhaust shop and tell them to fab you up a setup like some of us have done.
However, most 3rd gen 4Runners already have 2.25" pipe.
All you would need to do it get a muffler, and have a shop weld it in place.
A good growler is the Vortex, with Magnaflow right behind.
I choose the Magnaflow, and I like it very much.
It sounds way better in person than the vids on the above page.

Be advised. The Jardine (the one in the Performance Products catalog) is NOT stainless steel. That is why it isn't as pricy as the others that you looked at. I am not sure what you are going to do with the rig, but a non stainless exhaust would not last very long on my truck. I am constantly neat the beach. The salt water would kill it. Also, here in CT, they spread salt on the roads in the winter. Think about how much corosive stuff your truck will come in contact before you by a non- stainless exhaust.

I had an Aluminized System on my Supra for over 10 years in CA. I ran it thru snow and salted roads quite a bit. I never had any problems with it.

Did you look at the vid Corey posted for you to see? That system is on a 2001 Dual Cat truck. If your truck has only ONE catalytic, then yes the 96-98 system will fit on your truck. That is what I am running. It is Jardine part #89215. If you have Dual Cats, the part # is 89218.

I did check out that video, and it sounded good! I noticed that the exhaust was a rear exit...the one for the '98 says it is a side exit. was that just a custom modification? I really like the rear exit!

The 96-98 system exits at the rear corner of the bumper. Not really a side exit per-se. But it's not straight out the back either. If you tow stuff, you don't really want a rear exit as it will get soot all over whatever it is you are towing.

Thanks Dr. Z! you've been most helpful! I think I am going to get the Jardine Exhaust, probably order it this week so I can put it on next weekend, this weekend is too busy, and I don' want to have to finish all my work and stare at the box wishing I could install it!!! how long did it take to put yours on?
