Wow. I only paid $30.00 for the fan with the pulling included for free. But I am up here in WA. OUCH! $75-$100 is a lot but for that much you can almost get a new one.

There are 2 taurus' in my local boneyard. I'll check & see if they still have fans. (this place is usually really cheap)

What years are we looking for, or is it any with the 3 wire fan?

my understanding is that it is the 2 speed electric fan from an 89-95 ford taurus or mercury sable 3.8l v6

The place that I got mine is Best Auto Parts in Lynnwood WA. They charged me $32.xx with tax. I went in there and told the guy what I was looking for, and he told me where to look for it in the yard. I was a little confused so I went back and they sent some guy in a Nissan Sentra full of tools to follow me and he went and pulled it. I guess that the pull was free. Way cool. Anyhow here is their phone number. If they can't ship one to you for a reasonable amount, I will go there on my next day off and pick up a couple to sell.

i posted a message on one of those "find a part" networks and I got about 15 emails, everyone wanted $40-$50 for the fan, plus $10-$15 in shipping.

Im going to look locally first.

Your welcome. Got to share my good fortune with the "Brotherhood" you know. Those guys there are way cool as I discovered when I dropped in the day I got my Taurus Fan. The guy who pulled the fan was a fellow Toyota pickup owner as well. I need to go back there to go look at the Toyotas next time. I want a pair of donor doors to make half doors from.

Score!!

I just paid $11 for one including both sides of the harness and plug. Its got 3 wires at the fan motor, A Brown with yellow tracer, Brown with Orange tracer, and black. At the plug it changes to 2 smaller blue wires, a brown/orange and a black.

There were 3 or 4 more from 3.8 FI motors in the yard where I pulled it. It cost me another $1 to get into the yard (wheel barrow rental).

I also got a couple 40 amp relays with bases and extra wire for $3 each.

Contact me if you want cheaper parts! I'll sell the fans for $16 plus shipping and packing costs. I haven't looked into what it would cost to pack one.

It would be really awesome if someone knew where the relays and sensors are on the Taurus/Sables. I tried to follow the wire harness but it goes into the cabin near the glove box somewhere and I didn't know what to pull from there.

If you took the Ford whole system from a yard you probably wouldn't have to buy all those relays and control parts and sensors and crap that make the cost go up fast. It was all there and in very good condition, I just didn't know what to pull.
