The over-bubbled look is common for test vehicles. The makers will do that so that the competition (and the public) won't have a real idea about what the vehicle looks like until the mfg's are ready to show it off.

It stalls people from copying body styles.

The front end styling doesn't look too bad. Looks like a nice front end for fiberglass - will look cool on the desert trucks.

Yea, word is that the Taco will not be the lean mean wheelin' machine that it has been. It's supposed to be bulkier and lower

 

looks like the doors don't fit quite right. needs a lift and some real tires.

 

Personally I would start with 4 wheel drive. I think it needs that way before a lift and tires

 

how do you know that it isn't already equiped with it? I can't tell from just the pic, can you? :pat: oh yea, it may not have manual hubs either, like my 4runner, so that's no way to tell either.

 

I think the passenger is opening his door, and is about to kick the crap out of the photographer!

yeah, you can. it is way too low to be a 4x4. my truck is probably close to 8 inches higher than a 2wd version. seems that way anyways.

 

You can tell its 2wd because the rear leaf springs are hung below the axle tubes and the wheels are 5 lug. 4WD are spring over axle and 6 lug nuts per wheel. That's the way it always been on pickups.

but your's is a '99 that's a 2004. mine is a '98 with 11" stock ground clearance and the 2003's have only 9".

 

see my above post. doesn't mean it won't change now. look at the center diff on the new 4runners as opposed to the good ones, oops, I mean the 1st-3rd gens. just kidding.
