Tacoma guys, mpg and other details.

Any of you guys with Tacoma's, 2wd or 4wd, full size pick ups. What kind of mileage are you getting? Bigger tires or regular tires. Please say. Anything you like or don't like about the truck? I am looking into getting one. Any information I could possibly know would be great. Things I should look for other than trd. I'm used to my 4runner so any info on this truck would be nice. Thanks.

I've been getting 17 MPG or so on my V6 (that seems to be on the low end when compared to others) with stock 265/70 16s on them. Just do a search and you should come up with a lot of MPG info. I would also suggest visiting ttora.com and customtacos.com and do some research there as well.

Kyle,

I am running a 2005 Double Cab Tacoma V6 Automatic PreRunner (2WD) with 16 inch tires (245/75r16's I think?) and last averaging I did doing a trip at 60mph for about 200 miles was 20.71 mpg and what was with the A/C on at about 25%-50% the entire trip. No modifications either. A lot of room, I am pleased.

I think the rear end of my truck is 3.73 and I have the towing package, so that is with the mechanical limited slip differential, not the pseudo LSD like some packages have. The towing package includes a oil cooler/trans cooler for a tow rating at 6,500 lbs.

I actually have been thinking I should of gotten a Access Cab 4x4 5 speed 4 Cylinder. (if they are made that way)

I average around 18mpg on my 2000 V6. Autos might do better on the highway because of the higher gearing, but a manual will be beter in the city and have more power all around.

04 dcab = 16-19. One time hwy best of 20.5 w/ cruise and no AC. My old 02 xcab 5-speed was consistently over 21 on the hwy. The 5-speed is the way to go.

04 stock TRD extra cab v6 here. I get 18-19 combo driving, and a best of 21 on the highway. I love the truck and the power, but the stock seats suck. I cant stay comfortable for more than about 2 hours.

About 18, mostly city driving, 31's.

I love the mechanicals of the truck (engine, ect) but the interior plain sucks. It's antiquated, basic, and honestly, I expected better from Toyota. The ext. cab is a joke, don't plan on anyone ever sitting back there.

Other than my qualms about the interior, I really really love my truck, and I would buy it again.

I have a 98 auto v6 trd xcab and I get almost 21 mpg around town and Im not the gentle type, I get her going fast and drive her like she wants to be . I do however run full synthetics and k&n filter, 4" deck plate mod. I noticed a big jump in power and gas milage with those things.

I do very little highway to get a reading on milage since I made those mods.

It was really easy. Took about 4 hours to do the entire thing including switching the leaf springs (the left was on the right, right on the left :wtf: )

I got the 04 quad cab v6 trd A/T and a Leer canopy....no mods as of yet, but I'm going to do the deckplate mod soon from the sounds of the performance increase.

I'm getting on the average for highway 24mpg / city 19-20. I was told by a friend to change to Mobil 1 Synthetic.

It costs a little more, but the life is about 7,000 miles between oil changes

I'm happy with that
