I just put in some moble1 15-50 synth in the runner with a (gasp!!) fram filter. This weekend I will change the filter to something else. Anyway, with 135000 on the v6 and 110000 on the 22RE, should I go 15-50 or a 5-30?

williemon....Look at the pictures of the Fram filter on my site...you can see the seal coming loose from around the edges....I have not used Fram in years...I feel they are junk....I put this one on to do an engine flush, it was only on the vehicle for 15 minutes...thought I would save a few dollars becuase I was just flushing...took the filter off....look what I see....I am not saying you will have problems with Fram...I just think they are made poorly....they are the number one selling filter because the sell them at 7-11...

filters
Here are the links to the 2 oil filters I know of online.
Frank's Corvette filter study
That one goes down a lot but has a funny nessage about why its down.
Another very similar study
The second stays up most of the time. These are why I quit using Fram filters. The reason I started using them in the first place was the grippy end for easy removal of old oily filters with oily hands. Now I use grip tape from a skateboard shop to serve the same purpose. First thing I do to a new filter is put the tape on. Its $5 a square foot, which should last about 30 years since I only use 6 square inches per filter.

If your going to spend the money on synthetic...why not spend the money on a good filter....I am using a mobil 1 filter now......I think that is a little pricey, I am going to switch back to Napa brand at next oil change....Napa? ...hehe (made by wix) very good filter.....Napa brand oil? (Valvoline) Very good oil.....just alittle cheaper....

I had used the fram for years, then back several years ago I heard that they were not all that good anymore so I started using the AC Delco. Thats what I used for several years now. This last time I bought oil at the wal mart, they only had fram filters and I decided to go somewhere else to get the filters. Guess what? I forgot to get the filters. Got in the middle of changing oil and had to scrounge for filters at the house. I just happened to find a fram filter. Put it on, fired up the 3.0 and all seemed fine. Got up the next morning and the wife fired it up. Lots of valve train noise. yes, I will be changing filters this weekend.
