Supra motor + tranny = ?
#1
I am very interested in swapping a 7M series motor into my '87 4-runner and keeping my A340H automatic transmission. My question is: would the A340H be able to handle the power of the turbocharged 7M-GTE in its stock 230hp trim or would I be better suited to swap in the N/A 7M-GE or find a different tranny/t-case setup? I think the auto cressidas came with a version of the A340 but I'm not sure how different they were. Any help/information would be greatly appreciated.

Put up the same post on supracharged.com. It's an awsome sight. Didn't see anything about how much power the A340H can handle. Anyone know any extensive info on these trannies?

between moving and school and work and life's way of continuously taking up my time i never get to do anything. I literally havent touched the truck in almost a month now. Hopefully things will calm down soon and ill have some weekends to get her finished up.
basically from what i hear from most car people, is a tranny will hold alot more continuous power than shock load, so if you dont drive it like a maniac (drag racing, burnouts etc) it should do fine especially for a stock or mildly massaged motor.
