Supercharging 4Runner
I want to supercharge my 3.4 v6 4Runner but I am not sure if it will be wise since my truck has around 90,000 miles on it already. Anyone have any idea if it would be better not to do it or what?

Supercharging will always add more wear and tear to the engine simply due to greater stresses on the engine components but if you have been taking good care of your truck I really wouldn't worry too much. If you do, pay particular attention to taking care of your tranny because there will be alot more heat buildup from the extra power you'll be making. Think about adding a cooler and possible a valve body upgrade if you are planning on being a lead-foot.

Great suggestions but I am in college so buying a newer 4Runner is out of the question but that would be so great because it is already pretty powerful. I bought my car like 2 years ago used so I am not sure if the previous 70000 miles was taken cared of properly. Still unsure of what to do.

Why you don't you do some engine testing to see if everything is okay? I do not know much about the truck engines Toyo has, but I own an MR2. Some of the suggestions that people have made to me about forced induction is doing compression checks, is you engine loosing oil, are there any leaks in the engine bay, have all the recommended scheduled maintenance taken care of, how are the spark plugs wearing, etc. . .
These tests should tell you the condition of the engine. You could even drop your oil pan and see what the bottom of it tells you. I have seen some people drop there pans and catch some serious trouble before anything happened.
But, like the other guys said, you shouldn't worry about it. Unless the previous owner poored sand into the engine or something stupid like that, your 3.4L should be fine.

I would tend to agree....the 3.4 is pretty bulletproof.
The tranny is more likely your weak point, not the engine.
I say do some quick checks (comp test, look at plugs, etc...)
If all looks good then go for it!

I really miss horsepower and I'm considering doing mine next year and it will have probably around 95k on it but I will have a full check on the motor and the tranny before I do it.
