Supercharger Generations?

I did the 3.4 swap on my 2nd gen 4runner a few months ago and im curious about the supercharger. I know about the URD fuel/ECU stuff.

I was looking at the superchargers online that people have sold or are for sale and I was noticing the generations of the supercharger. Can someone please explain the differences between the generations?

I did so a search but I didnt find much.

Looks like there isn't much difference. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/t...charger-32968/ Google search is better than a search on the site.

the first gen is grey and the second gen is black. other than that thay are pretty much the same afaik.

one thing i just remembered is the intake on a first gen is two piece, and the second gen is one piece intake.

Get whatever you find for cheaper. They are basically all gonna be used now days.

The 1st gen can support a tad more boost IIRC but the 2nd gen fits a tad better (more compact).

Honestly I would think about skipping the SC altogether and going turbo if you want real power. Really depends on goals.

My experience is the first gen is louder (thinner casting) then the second Gen. That said I swear I felt more power with a 2.2 inch pulley from the Gen 1 (currently running). TA has a point on power for turbo's. Only reason I haven't started the turbo research is the amount of wheeling I've been doing. The SC's smooth power delivery works well with my driving style when traction is limited and lockers are engaged.
