Stronger/Beefier Inner Tie Rods?

So I've just murdered my third set of genuine Toyota inner tie rods, and it got me wondering if there's a set out there built for lifts, oversize tires, and wheeling the piss out of...anyone know?

Is it breaking or bending? You could always sleeve them, I suppose.

I just replaced my inners, outers for like 30 bucks. Off of Ebay. I don't even care if they don't last long.

Red face

If you harden them which you can do by heat treating not to be tried at home.

You will then tear up the next weakest part of the system such is life.

well they aren't breaking, but the bushing in the ball & socket joint gets wasted and the wheel has a good 1/2" of play

I want something to eliminate this...

cut the ends off and weld on heim joints like i did i almost got stuck one day and messed up my alignment so much that they had to use a come-a-long in order to pull it back into place and had no problems out of the heim joints if u want pics ill post them but that is the best solution

I agree, 2 days ago I was just talking to my buddy about converting my LBJs and TREs to heim joints - much stronger.

Are you rock crawling or something? I've still yet to change any front end parts on mine and I try to 'wheel at least once a month in it. Granted I'm not crawling over boulders or anything.

Hey, check out trail-gear.com. I was just looking over there and I ran into some tie rod parts, they looked real tough. You might have to build your own custom setup. Check 'em out, though. And then post pics so everyone can copy off you!

Kerby those look pretty legit, but the end isn't what's blown on mine...it's the ball and socket joint on the inner

I don't have a pic at the moment...it's the joint that's under the boot, that threads directly into the rack
