I was tightening the bolts hold my new bumper up and I stripped the one which holds in the support for the bumper closest to the rear tire.

My question is how do I fix this because the frame is boxed, I have no access to getting a larger nut inside so I could just use a larger bolt?

 

Any chance of substituting a self-tapping bolt? I used those to bolt my sliderz to the frame.

Or you could always Heli-Coil it. I've run into problems with that before though because the welded nut has broken loose during the re-tapping. Worth a try though.

 

One other option,but you'll have to take the bumper back off. Can you drill through the old welded nut and drill out the other side of the frame, and use a longer bolt and locknut.

 

Be careful if you go this route though. You can cause the frame rails to collapse inwards if you over tighten it and don't use some sort of sleeve to support them.

Good idea but I do not suggest doing this.
Either tap for a larger bolt or use a helicoil (I would use the helicoil myself).
