Hey all, I got a quick tire question

I know this forum primarily deals with 4wheelers, but I just felt like I'd ask if anyone has had any experience with only street tires. I have a regular 2wd truck and it won't really see any off-road use (no first gear!--I know I have to fix the bushing)

Anyways, this will just be a truck for daily driving in college, and I'd like to get some good mileage. Is a light truck tire like the LTX over-kill for my truck? Can I run a car tire on my truck like tirerack says? They recommend the Turanzas...

I'd like to run a nice big tire, but the stockers are 195/70 14 so I guess I'm stuck with that. I might be able to go 205/70 but I'm not sure.

Right now, my RX-7 has wider tires...

I know that Toyota puts Bridgestone Potenza RE-910's on the S-runner (2wd Taco sport package). Those are passenger car tires, but would probably work as long as you don't tow or haul heavy loads.

 

Look at the tire pressure sticker on your truck, most likely the stock tire sizes are "P" or passenger tires, so you shouldn't have any problems with them. LT tires are overkill unless you're hauling really heavy loads or driving an F-350!
