Stolen Catalytic, and now Error codes

Hey List,

Well here is the deal. Last Tuesday I had my catalytic converter stolen from my 4Runner. I didn't drive it at all, only to the muffler shop about 1 1/2 miles from my house. Got the new catalytic converter installed for $200 and all was good.

Then on Thursday my check engine light turns on so I take it to AutoZone and here is what the error that were given to me.
P0300: Random cylinder misfire condition
P0304: Cylinder 4 misfire detected.
P0306: Cylinder 6 misfire detected.

Could these codes be caused by the new catalytic converter being installed or it being stolen????

P.S. the 4Runner is running normal. I haven't noticed rough idle, lose of power. It's running fine.

Thanks, all you help and info would be greatly apprciated.

wierd... i put on a aftermarket cat, a magnaflow, and my check engine light popped O2 sensor below threshold... because the cat is less efficient than the oem cats so the O2 sensors readings are outside of the range the ECM usually recieves so it thinks that there is something wrong with the air/fuel mixture and causes the mixture to be rich... could that be making you misfire... i have no idea... but thats just what i experienced... i wish i knew more brotha

I don't think they are related...How many miles on this do you have? Time for plugs, wires, cap, rotor...depending on year.

My 4Runner is a 1996 3.4 with 151,000 miles. I did the plugs and wires about 9 months ago. It has no cap or rotor. Other than the check engine light on, it seems to be running good.

Should I be driving it or should I park it until I figure out the problem?

Thanks

IMO I'd reset the computer and see what happens next. I'm not telling you to do this but that's what I'd do.

Well on the older one's you pull the neg battery cable for about 30 sec or so. They also say pull the fuse but I'd rather pull the cable. On the 96, not sure if it's the same. I'm looking around maybe someone else can chime in and give an idea as well.

Well, my lady had a 97 Crown vic and Advanced Auto would check the codes and clear them. May have to have it done with a reader, I think that's what you need now that I think about it...ODB2

Wow people stealing cats is crazy. Are you putting some kind of special nuts on the new one's flanges? How about something like locking lugnuts where a key is needed to remove it.

Did anything get damaged down there from the theif? Are your O2 sensor wire(s) damaged? It would seem related to me.

Usually they cut them out soooo you can put different nuts on them but they'll be gone too.
