stock stereo head unit fits what other Toyotas?
I have upgraded my stereo headunit and it rocks. Now I want to sell my stock cd/cassette/am/fm radio head unit. It is out of a 2003 Tacoma TRD. It is the model number 86120-AD020. Internally amplified. On the front is the label TOYOTA A56815. I know that toyota has used the same factory wiring harness for the stereo for years across all models. Does anyone have a good idea of just which models that it fits? This includes models other than tacomas and 4runners. Tundras? Sequioas? Camrys? etc.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It will fit most double-DIN toyotas that don't have the external amp installed. Some 4Runners with the premium sound have an external amp under the dash so the unit won't work there. Also, it has the red lighting, so you have to match it up to the dash lighting as well. Post it on Ebay and it'll sell quickly for about $100-$150 as people are looking for the units with the internal amp.

I think itll fit in any toyota with a double din pocket but the wiring harness may be a bit different, I'm not quite sure. I took mine out of the runner along with the stock amp and crammed it in our old 1990 camry and it fits really well, physically. Not sure bout the harness cuz the fool who put in the old deck did a hack job so I had to cut the wires and bought an old runner harness from tap and crimped it to the camry cuz the wires match up the same.

ewarner,
i think i see where you're going with this. if you plan to sell it on ebay or the classifieds, do NOT declare which vehicles it fits. that leaves you wide open for a return, claim and/or negative feedback should your "fit list" not match with the buyer's vehicle.
my advice is to:
- declare it came out of your vehicle (year, make, model)
- list and take pictures of any serial numbers
- take pics of back of stereo and the female plug(s)
- advise buyer to double-check with their toyota dealer re serial # vs fit to their particular model
that's it.
take a look at other ebay listings too to see what other people write.

also try www.craigslist.org if your city is among those listed.

My new stereo
Mynew stereo, the thing is colorful and sounds great. I've got kenwood speakers in all around, too. Everything sounds really clear. My only complaint so far is that it is not the most user-friendly unit, the operations are not intuitive. I have been pouring over the manual trying to figure out how to use all the features.

I also must say that I definitely recommend using crutchfield if upgrading a stock head unit. The free wiring harness and installation kit with guide that is specific to your vehicle are invaluable! Also, free 3-day shipping. Their base prices may not always be the cheapest, but figuring in the extra things you get for free I think they are a great value! I had the old unit out and new unit in in something like an hour.
