still getting CEL after O2 sensor replaced

Hey guys, looking for ideas where to go next. I've read a lot of posts but I'm not finding a thread similar to my problem.

My 4runner is a 1996 SR5 3.4 auto/4wd with 123k on it. I started getting a CEL a while back and the code that was pulled was P0133.

I ordered a replacement front sensor from URD. Easy enough to install, although the nuts holding the old sensor in place were almost totally rusted away.

The CEL has returned, and it is still showing P0133. I read something on 4x4wire about the sensors sort of needing to be broken in, but I've reset the codes a couple of times and it still returns.

I'm at a loss as what to check next. I double checked the sensor number on the box with the URD website, double checked the wiring plug and the nuts holding the sensor and everything looks ok to me.

I haven't seen any loss in performance. I don't know my mileage because I've been riding my motorcycle all summer.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
Tom

I assume you pulled the ECU fuse to reset the computer......this time pull the negative terminal on the battery for a min or two then reconnect and see if the CEL comes back. I have seen a few cases where you need to remove all power from the vehicle for the ECU to reset properly.

If this still doesn't work, post back.

Thanks for your reply, Jamie.

I had been fulling the efi fuse under the hood. I'll see if removing the battery cable does better.

Im not sure about on yotas but I work on hondas for a living and sometimes when a car keeps recoding like this then the next step is replacing the ecu, spendy but it may fix your problem.
