i have a 90 4runner and after installing a sony deck inplace of the stock unit, the back speakers don't work but only when I play cds?! they work fine when i play the radio but cds are a no go. seriously f'd up. i have returned the head unit twice, so it is something in the stock wiring. good luck!

This is a problem that a lot of people run into. It is because the power lead that kicks on the amp was connected to the power antenna lead instead of the aux. amp lead. Hence the amps only being powered on during play of the radio.
Pioneer users usually don't see this problem since most pioneer decks power the antenna even during CD play.
