Starting delay
Hello All:
Long time reader, newly registered to post!
I recently performed a head gasket replacement on my '96 Taco @ 160K mi. While I was in there I also did the water pump, timing belt, etc. The work went well, no surprises, only one stupid mistake, and runs better than ever, except for this:
The engine has always fired off before completing two full revs on the starter. Since the work, it now takes over two revolutions the first time on the key. If I let off the key the first time, and hit it again, it fires up in the first revolution like old times.
After weeks of pondering, checking all the vac, water, and air hoses, one quiet day I heard a soft relay click between the first time on the key and the second. Whatever relay it is, it certainly seems responsible for the longer crank times.
Suggestions?
