Question Squeak sound

I've noticed maybe once or twice that after not driving my 4runner for a while, the front suspension will squeak a little if I go over a speedbump or something.. but it doesn't last to long. I haven't seen any rust down there.. does this happen to anyone else, anything I should check??
thanks in advance,
-Bryan

My whole suspension squeeked when i was doing through the canyon on my recent offroading trip

I found it cool that my truck showed some age

lol, if showing age is really a good thing.. but yeah mine only does it if I don't drive it for a couple days, never heard it squeak offroad. Just wondered if there were any components down there I should check out.

Not sure if they would produce a squeek or not, but it would be good to go ahead and shoot some grease at the ball joints.

It might be the sway bar bushings. I had a car once that would always squeek in the winter time until they had a little time to warm up from movement.

My 97 has the same intermittent squeaking from the front end (usually the drivers side). Seems like when I get it washed it goes away?

Any advice is appreciated as I can't find anything else to check either!

The bushings kind of make sense, but it seems like it'd do it more regularly. Since it doesn't seem to be anything major I just wont worry about it I guess.

I know for some vehicles they sell greaseable bushings for the sway bar. Although its probably easier just to take them off and spray them with some lithium grease and you will be good to go for awhile. Another option I've heard of used is to wrap that portion of the bar that goes through the bushing with teflon tape. Curese the problem pretty well since water can't wash it away.

You might want to take a look at the bushings. My 14-year-old sway bar bushings finally got eaten by rust and snapped off. You don't want to be driving around and all of a sudden your sway bar just doesn't work and take a turn too fast...

I ended up ordering new bushings, I wish I would have gotten some of Lee's disconnects though. :pat:

I had the same kind of thing with my 4Runner, every time I went over a little bump or anything it would squeek. I finally narrowed it down to somewhere in the front passenger side (hehe I would shake the truck and my brother would be peeking down trying to pinpoint the sound I never did figure out exactly what it was, but I bought a can of white lithium grease (try and find a clear one if you can, because I quickly learned that the White Lithium Grease, really is white ) and I sprayed every thing that moved under my truck, and every bushing and... The sound went away

Good luck with it!
