split second R4 software with vista 32

split second R4 software with vista 32
anybody runnin the tuning software with vista? tried my new labtop today and
I'm unable to connect to the ecu(FTC1). Tried all the Comm's...Comm 4 or 5, depending which usb port my serial-usb cord is in, initiates a ticking sound from the PC while it displays a pop up window telling me window has a problem with the s ware and needs to close it., etc.
Of course the key is turned on, the units worked with friends non-vista B4..
any ideas out there? plan on contacting split 2nd or URD in the am.

I'm not surprised, we're talking about a gadget that still uses a serial port LOL. I don't ever want a Vista platform, I just got a new PC and I ordered it with XP pro. Let us know what they say.

i agree so far-about to return the vista labtop and find a used one with xp. got a great deal on the unit tho-$850 for vaio/14.1/2gb-4mx/1.8G/800mhz frnt side bus/160 h drv/black on black.

$$$ They're cheaper.
It looks like the R4 software doesn't operate on the Macs, unless the Mac has a way to simulate Windows.

The R4 tuning software works fine in Windows Vista.
If you are having a communications problem it is likely a problem with your USB to serial converter and not with the software or Performance Calibration Unit.
