Speaker Replacement

It took a while but I finally got the stock rear speakers (under the pop out windows on the extcab) out of my truck. I'm going to fab up mounting plate to put some bigger and better speakers in there place.

The surprise was what looks to be a powered corossover or small amp (obviously a stock configuration) mounted in the plastic speaker housing (which is huuuge compared to the tiny speaker mounted in it). It was not being used. boxes still have the stock 15watt speakers in them and the stock head unit was just the plain jane stock job.

The question is - since I have 5 wires running into the speaker box and to this amp(?) then 2 different wires coming off the amp to the speaker - how does figure out which of the 5 wires are the direct speaker leads (ie +/- output from the head unit???

I can supply pics if that helps...

My guess is you have a positive, negative, remote turn on (only on when the radio is), and rear signal (+ & -). Then to the speakers you only need the signal + & - (left and right).
Make sense?
I don't have that setup (built my own system), but that's what wires are running to my amp.

Makes perfect sense - that's what I was assuming. I'm just trying to tap into the existing wires to hook up the speakers but it looks like i'm going to need to run fresh wires. Dang, and I just put the dash back together.
