Hi Everyone.

It's a beutiful Saturday morning here in New Hampshire. I plan to replace my plugs on my 2002 4Runner with 3.4v6. It came with two different brands of plugs.

I went to the auto parts store and found 6 NGK BKR5EKB-11 for $6 each.

My question is can I use this brand and type on all 6 cylinders, or should I go to another store to find the DENSO brand for the other 3 cylinders?

You can use the NGK's in all 6 cylinders.

 

All done, it took one hour start to finish.

She runs much better. I had 45k on the originals. It was not starting as fast and kind of felt sluggish, but I am sure that is all in my head.

Nope, not at all. A few tips. Tape your socket to the extension, I learned that really fast. The passenger side is easier than the drivers, even though you have to remove the intake tube. Other than that, it took me about an hour including running in the house a few times.

I changed mine at 60k. It runs a lot smoother now. Oh yeah all NGK's and gapped prior to installing. Supposed to be .043, however all but one was at about .040. Someone said just install. I don't think 3 hundredths of an in makes a diff.

 

They should all be gapped the same.

 

^ yep, and you need to use a wire-feeler type guage to do it right. Mine were way off when I got them.
