I have been driving with the lift the last week, and I got to say it is way nicer than stock. Haven't taken it offroad yet, but will update this post afterwards.

I am really happy with the level stance, and the hwy feel. The most difficult part of the install was the front coils. Right now I have my rear 3rd member sitting on a table in the garage waiting for a lock right. I will post that once its installed.

ya, picked up the LC wheels for 75$ each from a salvage in nebraska.

Looks sweet! The more threads i see like this, the more i'm tempted to do the same thing.

A couple questions...
In the second pic, is that stock suspension? If so, did you have any rubbing on-road?
What S.S. system (#) did you get?

 

Brad it is looking really good! I like how it is turning out a lot.

The lift makes a huge diff. I hope you are able to come out and play with the Socal group this fall/winter.

 

Second pic is stock suspension. I had to grind quite a bit out of the pinch weld area to drive like that. If i hit a bump, it rubbed. Basically rolling this big of tires is impossible with stock suspension. I just had the runner sitting around waiting to be lifted with these wheels on.

I got #7 SS lift, the "mild version", the tokico shocks are great, and the A$$ end doesn't stick up too high. I think its perfect. It feels really nice going over dips onroad. Haven't taken it offroad yet.

I will definetly be going often. I really like going out offroading, then kicking back BBQ in the evening, maybe do a little shooting if the area permits, camping, then waking up at 530 and wheeling some more. Once the locker is in, Im ready to rock.

 

No luck on getting that locker in this weekend?

Maybe I can still slip in to help out with it. Let me know when you plan on trying again. I really want to learn how to do this also!

 

The third is already out, just have to put the locker in. My goal is to have it in by Saturday afternoon, then take it out Sat night or Sunday. You are welcome to come over any time. I am at work until at least 7PM everynight though. Let me know if you want to come over some time this week an help or maybe next Sat.

thanks, I had a Heep guy at work this week tell me that most serious offroaders that he talks to prefer steel wheels because they can bend them back in case of emergency, but hopefully I will never have this problem. Plus you can't beat the look of a factory Toyota alloy wheel.

 

I went with LC rims for some of the same reasons. I wanted a non bling looking 16x8 and wanted to retain a semi factory look. Black steelies are super cheap but I think the look has been over done and now many of them just look like poser off roaders with them. I have seen both Aluminum and steel get bent and neither bent back well enough to look right again.

 

Sweet! Makes me want some LC wheels too! Awesome lift by the way.

hey could you do me a favor and take some pics of your cv's for me, im ready to lift but im a little nervous about the ss lift being to rough on the cv's. that runner looks awesome by the way i want the same tires and lift.

 

Ill get some photos of the CV's. I have the extended studs and top out spacers on my front end so I could take them off and lower the front a little if I wanted to. I don't think its a problem. If you are worried about it, just don't use the top out spacers. You could slap some tundra coils on stock shocks and be up just about the right height and with a diff drop, I don't think there would be any problems whatsoever.

Also, you can't fit 285's without lifting the front quite a bit or cutting a lot out of the fender well, or both. I still had to do a fair amount of cutting.
