Hello, I just got a new 2004 4runner SE and want to replace my stock HU with a DVD ones but cant seem to Fugger out how to remove the silver plate that covering the radio and ac control unit. if someone on here who has a 4g 4runner who replace the HU their self would please give me instruction on how to do it please.

I would take it to have it install but i like to do everything my self because i know that it done right and everything it put back right and no screw are left over or toss aside..

impulsebrklyn, should be able to help you he changed his system and the HU

 

the center console pulls apart (2 pieces).. in the storage bin there should be one bolt.. the a/c unit pulls off after that.. then 2 more bolts under the radio.. then there is the side bolt under/next to the driver's dash.. tow bolts holds on the panel, which reveals the last bolt.. then just pull off the whole silver piece.. hope this helps
