be that said.. of the big 3 i'd still buy a chev duramax.. why?? so i can tow the crazy bad a$$ toyota to the trail.
other than that.. i'm more than happy with the tacoma (96) i have.
Ford doesn't build the Powerstroke, Navistar does. GM builds the Duramax, they now own the company 100%. Isuzu is a great company to get into bed with when designing a diesel motor, the duramax pulls the goosenecks like nobody's business.

And 81% of fords cars are powered by mazda powerplants. Just look at the probe, 626 chassis, suspension, drivetrain...the works. Just different body. I know cuz I owned 3 626 street cars and all the parts I bought at the stealership either were stamped Ford Motor Corp, or I had to go to the ford parts counter and end up walkin out w/abag that said Ford on it. The probe and the 626 both shared the same FSM in the late '80's-early '90's....

I think the Dodge/Cummins thing is smart, after all Cummins has more than 50% of the small diesel engine market in the world.. then again the motor is going into a Dodge truck..?

Have your classmate to pop the hood on the Ford, then ask him to point out anything domestic other than the block.

The fact still remains, you beat him fair and square. He didn't want to get his truck dirty? that sounds like a personal problem, the kind of guy that would go to a nude beach and say the water was to cold to make excuses for his small wonder, shrinkage. Everybody knows who crossed the line first and it was a race, no time to hold back because of dirt. How times have you seen Andretti pull back because he didn't want to get his face all black from the exhaust? Well, bad example because there was never anybody in front of him to produce the exhaust, but you get my point.
