So there's this wire hanging down
under the front of my truck when I came out of work tonight. That can't be from MY truck, I thought, it must be something I picked up off the road and it's been dragging along. Well, I was right that it was dragging along, but it was from my truck! The end still connected goes into the front of the front differential, and the other end has a plastic clip, somewhat battered now, with two little prong connections in it and a plastic guide in the middle. After considerable searching I found what I believe it should be connected to, a similar two prong connector that goes up near the oil filter where it joins another wire coming out of the block right next to the filter, and together they go up into a maze of wires. Does anybody know what this is -- is it some kind of sensor? I haven't had any idiot lights go on or anything, and all my gauges work OK. We're going on a trip tomorrow, but taking my wife's car, so it's no big deal. I'll look at it when we return. Any ideas?

ADD=Automatic Differential Disconnect. If you don't have manual hubs, that is what you have. Yes, all that wire is is the sensor for the ADD. Mine has been unhooked for a while now because I swapped in some manual locking hubs. If you plugged her back up and your 4 wheel is working, you gots nothing to worry about.
