I just did my headlamps and replaced the bulbs for the fog's too with Silverstars just this morning. The headlamps were easy and took about two minutes like payyourtoll stated and the fogs took about 5 minutes a side. I'm actually looking forward to driving to work tonite so I can see the difference.

I normally avoid Wal-mart like the plague but my GF got a 50% off a bill of less than $100 coupon due to her having a bad experience at WM and actually wrote the company and she was just gonna throw it away so I snagged it and got the Silverstar headlamps and fogs for just under $40. The fogs are $50 alone for a pair at PepBoys so it was a deal.

Are the SIlver Stars sealed beam headlamps gonna make a big a difference as the kind where yo can change just the bulbs? I wa thinking about trying the Silver Stars but was skeptical.

I installed the PIAA`s in my last vehicle, they did not seem as bright as the stock ones (removed), I have the Silverstars now... in the toy and could not be more pleased with the results.

I have silverstars, I highly recommend them! They arent that great in rain or snow, but thats what yellow fogs are for.

is there any difference in brightness or quality between the sealed beam and the headlights that can change just the bulb?

my runner has the sealed beam type, but if the other type is better there is a kit to change over to where I can change just the bukbs

I have the Silverstars and hate them. It was probably the worst $50 I ever spent. They're WAY too blue, and don't light up ANYTHING in the rain/snow. Bad, bad, bad. Bling Bling..buy it up.

Yea, the bulbs are MUCH brighter than sealed if you get high end bulds. I did this am I am very pleased. Check my home page and you can see how they look. Much more modern appeance. You can get the conversion on ebay for $40 and you will be out another $50 to get some high end bubls.

Sherri, look into getting the Hella H4 Conversion for your truck, that way you don't have to run sealed beams anymore.

O wailt, did you get H4 bulbs or sealed beam replacements at Wall Mart? The H4s are $25 each at auto part stores.

Not to sound like a downer but are you guys sure its not just all in your head or if the color of the light makes it appear brighter? I had the same feelings first time I saw blue bulb headlights. My cousin has the silverstars in his accord and they look exactly the same as the el cheapo 10 dollar xenon lights I had in my old accord, which I have been wanting to replace with regular bulbs but for some reason have not blown in about 3 years and thats with daily nighttime driving. btw I have the vision plus in my runner and while I dont think they give out the 50% more light as they claim, they do seem to give out more light, has a better spread and a further reach than stock bulbs. Love them for regular driving but like all the other "whiter" bulbs, it doesnt work too well in the rain, but then again anything short of yellow bulbs or hids dont work too well in the rain.

I'm not picky about headlights, that's where aftermarket lights come into play. I went with the Silverstars just because they look cooler. I'm running the Cool Blues right now and they look exactly the same in the sealed beam units.

If you're really concerned about getting the max light output from your headlights, just mount some aftermarket fogs. Headlights can't touch them no matter what you do.

I have PIAA Xtreme whites in my 03 and they have been fine for almost 2 years now. The 03 4Ruses 9005 and 9006s. I think the previous 4R used H3/4 or something. I put PIAAs in my GF Freelander (Freelander OEM lights suck)H4s, one lasted little more than a year before it blew. I replaced that one with a Silverstar. The PIAAs is moticebaly brighter than the Silverstar, and the SIlverstar is still way better than OEM on the Freelander but not as bright as the PIAA. It is easy to spot on a car with one of each in

It however seems the PIAA H4 or daul element bulbs dont last Dont know about the SIlverstars lifespan yet.

An upgraded headlight wiring harness can do wonders for light output. The stock wiring is adequate, but over the years it gets worse. I have the Hella H4s in my '85 and was amazed at the difference in light output when I installed a set of relays to power them:

I got a good look for the first time last night with my Silverstars installed and they don't look blue to me;my neighbor has Sylvania Cool Blue lights in his '02 Runner and his are definetly blue and don't cast the light as far. Even at a distance mine don't look blue and to me are a very nice white and are a huge improvemnet over OEM. I think the Silverstars work better with the '99+ headlamps vs the '96-'98 ones since these seem brighter than the Silverstars in my '97.
