I don't think so but who knows, just try it out and let us all know! You may be able to squeeze a shovel over the Hi-Lift and stagger the mounts for each so give it a shot and post up pics of what the end result is.

just wanted to mention that if you are running a rack of any type the sunroof deflector seems to help direct the air up and over-I realize some people hate the sunroof deflectors but with my flush mount rack and an AutoVentShade sunroof deflector I now have no wind buffeting on the rack whatsoever.

I'm already a fan of the deflectors. I seldom have my side windows down, but I do use the sun roof. Putting the deflector on it made a HUGE difference. Cut the noise to less then half of what it was before. I understand how it would help with the rack as well.

Rola Vortex on my 98
So I've been wanting a roof rack for awhile and thanks to all the great posts here, I purchased a Rola Vortex and installed it on my 98 4runner. I purchased it from etrailer.com for $159 shipped.
Both the rack and mounts are sturdy and it was easy to install. I mounted it to my Yakima cross bars for strength & so I can easily remove it.
I don't have the rack extension, but you can see with the hatch opened it's close in the back. My first mod will be figuring out how to mount reverse lights back there.
It's funny how I didn't see a regular use for the rack at first. Now that I have it, I keep finding things to put in it.
Thanks!

I put this rack together to carry extra fuel and rearranged it to carry a shovel and hi lift also. I wanted something low profile to slip under those low hanging branches.
Its easy to access by standing on the rear tire.
Fuel cans and mounts are Rotopax

Thule M.O.A.B Rack
Ok so here is my rack! I have looked everywhere for accessories and haven't had much luck. So why buy when I can make. The Custom Hi-Lift Holder was made a friend, which took alot of ingenuity. It's lockable and secure. I also go fishing alot and I needed someplace to mount the fishing poles, since my 94 4Runner didn't have a moon roof I mounted them inside. When I bought the 99 I didn't have that option. So I mounted The Berkley Rod Holders on the crossbars. Next were the lights, again pay 100 dollars of more for the brackets/mounts. I instead used $10 Yakima bike track holders, drilled a 3/8 hole instead of a square hole and use a wing nut to hold the light. Its really secure and easier to mount lights anywhere.

Again yotatech does not let me down. This is a great thread with so much useful information. I decided to get the black widow rack with the wind guard from http://www.discountramps.com/
seemed like a solid way to go for a decent price. Cant wait to get it an post pictures for everyone.
One thing is that it does not look like it has a place to put lights on. If anyone knows how to put lights on it, I would love the help.

I bought and installed the baja rack.
The only problem I have is feed back noise from my roof when hitting bumps. I don't hear anything when its empty, just when I have my high lift on the rack. I can't figure it out. But other than that I like it a lot.
