Now, keep in mind that I am not a fan of roof racks. I am only using this thing because of the 3rd row seat and not having any storage left in the rig. It will not be used on a regular basis, only when needed when pulling the pop-up around and on long drives with the whole family.
So, I ordered this rack off of Ebay for a whopping $45 shipped on the "Best Offer" method. FWIW, the rack is pretty damn strong. The mounting hardware is worthless though. So, I modified the mounting hardware to work, and got it bolted on.

Here's my full write up on it. I had to add a few spacers inbetween the twist downs and the bracket, this allowed it to clamp sooner and therefore clamp tighter on the factory crossbars. Otherwise the rack will slide when loaded up with firewood.
As far as the shovel mount, I fabbed it up and also used yakima's universal clamp on thingies with a quickfist to hold the handle.
The hi-lift side also works well for mounting an awning.
On a side note, because it fits perfectly behind the yakima wind fairing, I have no added noise and no change in MPG. I'm stoked I finally ordered sliders for this rig, I finally have a reason to warrant carrying a hi-lift with me
.These are the clothing racks that I took apart to build it.
Here are some shots of the rack mocked up, unpainted.
It's not much, but I'm hoping to be able to put a canoe up there, without having to add boards to extend past my factory rack......These clothing racks should be plenty strong, as they are used to carry large amounts of heavy clothing....Besides, I only spent $10.00! If it sucks, I can just throw it all out, without any hurt feelings!

Here are some pictures of my Rola rack ("Rola" sticker removed from wind fairing) mounted to my OEM roof rack crossbars. I purchased the ~18" extension so it extends the rack to hang over my sun roof a little bit. It doesn't interfere with the sun roof open/close/tilt as it sits higher than the sun roof opens/tilts. I only put light gear up on the front portion of the rack since it isn't supported by a crossbar. Front and rear lights mounted to the rack to come in the near future...
I purchased the rack for $272 (total with shipping) from topoftheline.com. This was the cheapest (with shipping considered) I could find this Rola rack including the extension.

I just bought the same setup have you found a good cargo net that fits with the extension? I like the lower profile and couldn't beat the price etrailer.com for 217 shipped for both!! Thanks for the pics it helped me pull the trigger.

I like the looks of it because it isn't just straight up and down on the edges. But on the down side, you loose storage area because of that very same reason. Also, I would think you couldn't mount a Hi-lift or shovel to the side of it. Am I correct in that or am I way over thinking all of this??

Just got my rack set up and I love it, got the black widow rack from www.discountracks.com . then I had to fit my yakima lowriders so I could put my ski holders on, but i think it looks good

My bad it was www.discountramps.com , and yeah once i hit about forty it starts to humm so I might have to get a fairing, well see I might just have to turn the music up when im going more than forty

Hey, just bought the Loadwarrior off of Amazon (Went with them because of free shipping EVEN TO ALASKA!!) And I already know I want the extension to add to it. My question is with the shovel \ ax mounts that can be bought for it....
If I get two sets of mounts, is there enough room to have them paired together on one side of the rack?
Like this:
That pic is the mount for the baja rack...
What I would like is have my ax and shovel on one side, and then a hi-lift on the other (when the day comes that I get sliders...) Can that be done with their backets, or do I have to fab up my own to hold the shovel and ax together?
