Ditto on what Tacoclimber says, I basically have the same truck. I haul my 2 shifter karts around, no problems....

Sounds like you’d really rather have the truck and for what you use it for it would make more sense. As to the buying a truck from a friend thing if he’s always had it dealer serviced, and as far as he knows its OK, to me that doesn’t sound as risky as buying an unknown truck off the lot somewhere or from someone you don’t know.

I just sold my ext. cab pickup to get a 4runner - now it's back to the SUV. I obsessed for quite a while about whether to make the move, but for me, it was for the best. I finally decided that I like the utility of a pickup so much that I'm going to try to make the 4runner my wife's primary vehicle, and I'll buy and build a tacoma double cab (can anyone say pipe dream?). Mostly the bed is for camping and hauling around mountain bikes so they're not hanging off the back (not to mention lawn mowers, dirt, couches, etc). I really miss that truck bed! If your main source of recreation is dirt bikes, go for the pickup! Good luck!

As far as the friend situation goes, if they're not asking you to drive their drunk a$$es home, they will be asking you to help them move crap with your truck. When I had my pickup I was getting hit up all the time to move furniture and such. When it comes down to it, I would prefer to taxi my drunk friends home then be everyones u-haul. just my two cents

I have a KX 125 I haul around w/ a trailer. I like having the covered space to keep my gear.
But if you have always wanted the Taco and getting a great deal and still come out ahead w/ your runner I would go for it as well.

The only doubt I have about it, is giving up a truck that I am sure is sound. Also, I have had one bad experience with buying a vehicle from a friend, we are not friends any more because of it.

I failed to mention that it also has an alpine head unit, nice speakers, and a 10" sub behind the seat!

me too.. i chose the taco over the runner... its a 4 door taco and i have some room but alteast i can throw my dead bleeding deer in the back without having to carry trashbags and etc to keep from staining the carpet

That's a good point. I guess it depends on your age. If you're college age, you'll be moving your so-called friends every other friggin' weekend. It sucks. If you're over 25, it's not quite so bad. If you're over 30, you're good to go.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I have been thinking about it a lot. I have a lot of time to decide, because he is still shopping for the tundra that he wants. Did I mention that this taco has black 16" pro comp rims?

Kyle, if you are serious about wanting mine, I would drive half way. I would love to see it go to another member, especially one who could appreciate all the small mods, instead of them decreasing the value. PM me if you want and we can talk about $$.

When I ride, is is very nice to be able to throw all my gear in the back and not worry about the weather(although having to throw the nasty gear in the back and smelling it is no fun). It is also nice to know that I can sleep in the 4runner, and don't have to worry about a tent. But losing the trailer outweighs it IMO. I woldn't have to worry about weight, tranny problems, external tranny cooler, spare tires, trailer bearings, and all of that.

Above all gentlemen, girls will take the guy in the pickup over the guy in the SUV any day. My redneck GF was completely against me getting the 4runner, and now she will stop yapping. lol.
