After installing the RB 2" lift and the larger Revo tires, I found that my antenna strikes the frame of my garage door.

Aside from remembering to turn off the radio every time I enter the garage, is there a way to shorten this thing by about 3"?

I know I'm going to forget to turn the radio off a few times and that power antenna is going to snap. Then I'll snap.

 

I don't have any clue how to shorten the antenna, but I find it interesting that you need to shorten it by 3" after doing a 2" BL.

 

the antenna is 30.1 inches becuase it's 1/4 of a wavelength of the average (98.1) frequency of FM (that's why the stations at the middle of the dial are usually stronger than the ones at the end). if you shorten the antenna, then you'll get wose reception on the longer wavelength (lower frequency) stations. see if you can just mount the antenna in such a way that about 3" of it is down in the body, (i believe honda does this, their antennas look short, that's because a good chunk of the antenna is in the a-pillar).

 

Before you move down into the body somebody must do an analysis of the fender material and its attenuation @ 98,100,000hz, precisely, and factor that in! You want to do things right don't you?

 

The BL is 2" but the Revos added 1/2". Might as well round up to 3".

 

You might as well round up to 6" because once you do the suspension lift and go to 33s you'll just have to shorten the antenna again.
