Shocks replacement with 3" lift.

First 4runner I've owned. It's a 2000 sr5 with what appears to be a rough country lift. ( Rough country sticker on rear shocks. No stickers on front shocks but there is a shiny coil spacer). I looked on RC 's website and it looks like their 3" lift.
I don't go offload, mainly a daily driver.
How do I order replacement shocks? Do I go for stock height shocks? I want something that offers a smoother ride.
Thanks

Does it have extended bump stops? Bolting a longer shock in can leave it being the bump stop when that side is fully compressed, which can be catastrophic for the shock if you bottom out hard.

If you do have extended bump stops, you can use some longer shocks without damaging them. We haven't had great experience with the Bilstein 5100's, they wore out pretty quickly. I've had great luck using some stock rear 80 series shocks. (https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/...531-69417.html)

I think I had to slightly drill out the upper shock mount to fit them.

PS: You can use stock length shocks as well, but you won't get as much articulation off road, because the shock will top out , giving you (around) 3 inches less droop.

No extended bump stops. I'm just looking for a good ride on pavement. No off road action. From what I gather i need rear shocks for a 3" lift and stock height shocks for the front since it has a spacer on top of the coil.
I don't want to remove the lift. I really like the waybthe truck sits.

Well, the FJ80 Tokico's are probably going to work with what you want.

FWIW, the spacer lifts on the front create the same issue on the front side. There's no more travel in the shock itself, but it's been moved down 3 inches. So now, when you bottom out the front suspension, the rubber stops on the lower control arm don't touch the frame, the shock bottoms out internally and can bend/fail.

So the FJ80 shocks for the rear will work with the lifted springs. Great. I like that I prce better than bilsteins.
stock 3rd gen front shocks.
The only off road action this truck will see would be on the beach of NC maybe twice a year.
thanks for the help.

Just need to enlarge the upper shock mount hole a little on the 4Runner frame. The shaft on the FJ80 shock is a little larger in diameter.

And boy are the top rear shock mounts a PITA on a 3rd gen. It's bad enough on mine with a 1" body lift, it's worse on a stock vehicle. Good luck with that.
