Question Shock Recommendations - Chevys and BJ spacers

I am planning to install 63" chevys in the rear and BJ spacers in the front of my 87 runner and I need suggestions on which shocks to run. Anyone else with this setup please let me know what length or part numbers the shocks you currently run are. I want to maximize the articulation that the Chevys will give me so I do not want to buy a shock that does not give me much travel. I was thinking along the lines of pro comp, ranchos, doesch tech, or skyjacker shocks since thy are not super expensive. Thanks for any replies.

I know Flygtenstein has experimented around with the BJ spacer front and found Rancho 5167 to be the optimum fit. Can't help you with the Chevy application but hopefully someone else will chime in. In the meantime here's a helpful chart on Rancho measurements:http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/shocks/index2.html

FWIW, I just put Downey 3" lift springs on mine. While looking for shock fitment I found some place indicating that Rancho 5144 was for a 0-2" lift. When I got them however, they were only 1" longer than the stock ones I removed. I realize your application is going to be different, but at least it gives you a starting point to measure from. Good luck.

when i had my 84 i had the 63" chevys and a 6" shackle. I used the cheap rancho shocks that had 14" of travel i think they were 34" overall extended length. they worked very well. you will need to mount them like /\ to make your truck more stable.
