shackles

Well, I got some lift shackles, and now I can't get the darn old ones off. Surely I'm doing something wrong, but for the life of me I can't seem to get them off. I'm jacking the axle up, then letting the pickup down onto a jackstand under the bumper. The way I'm doing it is pretty redneck, but I figured it would work. Any ideas?

It doesn't take anything glamorous. You might need to remove the wheels and place a jack(s) and a jackstand under the axle to play with the amount of droop to let the force off the shackle bolts. It will also be easier if you can keep the axle relatively flat so the springs don't twist the shackles and add load to the shackle bolts. If that doesn't work use a BFH or rubber mallet to ease the bolts out.

I have some shackle installation instructions on-line. What problem are you having exactly?

The bolts were frozen up pretty bad in the bushings. Ched (SloPoke) helped me and we got the darn things off. I need some new bushings now though, heh. Thanks Ched!
