Have you ever yelled at your mother in law? It's a lot harder than it sounds, especially with her husband lurking near by...

I usually go with a sarcastic comment.

"You think you can close that a little harder next time?"

"I don't think it closed all the way...(sigh)"

"Send the door to the other side, its OK."

Usually works but I'm sure its hard to apply to the in-laws.

maybe this might help. there's always stuff accumulated on the seatbelt hanger(residue off seatbelt fabric) you might try cleaning them off so the belt can slide through it easly(I dont know if that makes sense)

I'll have to do this on mine, especially since the wife is driving it now.

Thanks for the fix....I gotta do that tomorrow. Everytime I close the door and hear it, it makes me cringe...kinda sounds like a crunch sound. If I do this, how long before I have to fix it again?

Is there a way to grease the spring inside?
I would think that is why the spring doesn't seem as strong after a while.
Has anyone tried to open it up yet?

If I remember correctly, the spring is sealed so the only lube it gets is from the factory. But really, it's normal for springs to fade over time. As any member who has done a lift.

I carry passengers fairly regularly, but there's only one guy who consistently does it. I'm glad to know I'm not alone.

Pretty much everyone slams my doors as hard as humanly possible. Why is this? Whatever the reason, I find it highly annoying.

My '99 slams easily. My '95 always closes with a nice solid thump. But after driving the '95, I find myself slamming the '99.

My passenger door is not lined up right and when ever someone shuts my door, it makes a really loud sound. I always get pissed off even when I know its not their fault. My seat belts never seem to retract. When I get in a car that the seatbelts accually retract it seems wierd. Oh well, I guess it just gives my truck charicter!

I open the door for my wife to get in because it is the gentlemanly thing to do. But secretly each time I close the door behind her I think to myself "that was a perfect close...not to soft that it dosent latch all the way, and not too hard to shake the whole rig!"

HaHa.... Mine go back in... just the driver side grabs and will not come out. unless u pull it 5000 times each time it grabs then u let off and pull again and it comes out a lil more. it sucks.

The retractor setup on my 97 Taco is useless. I have been in hurries getting to school and forget to pull the setbelt up and it will dangle outside the truck while I drive down the highway. Needless to say, oil, dirt, and grime have embedded itself into the seatbelt to the point I don't even want to wear it when I've got clean clothes on(fortunately, clean clothing is a rare commodity around my house). Anyhow, I don't know if anyone has checked it out but either 4x4wire.com has the fix online, or maybe it's on yotatech's site....I don't remember.

"Bam!"

"STOP IT!"

"Bam!"

DON'T DO THAT!"

"BAM!!!!!", "Do What?"

"DAMN IT!"

I just replaced the stupid things with new OEM's. The cost was free under the warranty, but now that the warranty is over, a new spring / re-winding the spring is the way to go.
