Seat durability
#1

Every time I get out of the truck, the thigh support (red) folds over and some lines on the side develop (blue).
Anyone use these seats for few years without seat covers? How are they holding up?
Thanks.

I have a 91 4runner, and I saw the same problem develop, but it took about 4 years. I've now had it for 11 with no seat covers on and the fabric (albeit creased) has held up. I've noticed on the 3rd generation 4Runners that the fabric is different than the 2nd Gens. To be quite honest, I think the 2nd Gens have a tougher fabric, so it's hard to say how your seat is going to hold up.
Now with so many seat covers that look cool, you can't go wrong by putting one on (although the really cool ones cost some serious $$).

I have some light creases in the same place in my '98. There aren't any tears yet, and the padding/rigidness of that area haven't seem to have lost any integrity. Maybe more time will tell a different story, but they seem to hold up good. When I was test driving 4Runners this summer, I was in some '96 and '97 models that were in just as good shape.
