Satoshi is ON!!

Well After about 1 year of preparing to get this mod.. I got it done tonight..
I finally cut my Grill. The Expanded metal was from an Old Swamp Cooler grating that my cousin found for me. and I got the Frame painted to color match.. Over all Im pleased.. I may tweak it a little more but for now Im happy its done.. Next step.. Sahara Bull bar or Yakima Loadwarrior or Sliders.. or cargo box.. hehe which ever comes first..
I'll post some more pictures in the daytime..

yes Ive got more pics.. Im waiting to do a web page for the build..
Moneywise... I bought the Frame a little over a year ago.. I dont remember the price.. but I figure somewhere in the 30-40 dollar range I remember getting a decent deal on it..

the logo was a little expensive.. from www.sor.com it was somthing like 28 bucks then some wierd.. "handling" charge of 10 bucks.. Thats probably what kept me from doing this sooner, I was kinda pissed off about that lam handling charge.. not to mention shipping charges. Later I found they have a used or 2nd hand logo sale that I coulda bought for less and would have probably worked just as well..

- 10 bucks in paint.. and primer.. (rattlecan for logo and grill)
- 4 bucks for the epoxy.. I used cheapo marine epoxy to fill the holes and then cut and sanded.. I used it because I dont know how to use fiberglass or bondo.. results were good IMO.. and it was sandable and paintable according to the package..

The expanded metal was Gratis thanks to my cousin.. I did contemplate this though grill mesh.. from http://www.customcargrills.com/
they have all kinds of choices..

-finally 130 bucks for the custom paint color to match.. I saved up for this too.. and yea probably paid more than I should have.. but I dont know paint and Im happy with the results.
.
all in all.. approx 220 bucks for the mod.. but over the course of a year.. its all been spare change I saved up so It didnt feel like it cost that much..

Non Taken... Im sure that if you buy the chrome OME grill you can do this mod on the cheap. then you dont need to get it painted. Your only real cost would be the logo.. and perhaps your Expanded Steel.
Once I started Rolling on this it took me about 3 weeks to get everything lined up. I say a year because thats when I bought the 3rd party grill.. it was Black plastic looking so.. I knew I wanted it to be color matched.. and it sat in my shed for a year as I waited to buy the logo.. I bought that 3 weeks ago.. and started cutting my grill working on it mostly on weekends. With some cash and more focus you could do this whole mod in 1 day, once you get all your parts in order..

looks awesome mang! this mod is growing on me now...im thinkin i might add it to the 'list'. I was originally gonna try a badgeless grill (something we did in vw world) but that might end up being more difficult. i'll probably lose the chrome also, but go flat black instead.

nice work!

The chrome grill would not require painting but as I said earlier, I really like the color-matched look. It cost me $100 to have mine painted, and the guy also painted the mesh black so that it would look more BLING!!!!
