S/C question -- which way does check valve go?

Well, I put the S/C in this past weekend, but I did not have all the parts I needed. I was able to pick them up at an auto parts store, but I'm not sure about the positioning of one of them. It's the IAC check valve. The one that connects to the hose coming from the throttle body. Since I didn't have the TRD-supplied valve, I went to Pep Boys and got a brass PCV one-way check valve and just put it in with hose clamps on either end of it. I need to know which way the valve is supposed to open though. Does it need to be positioned so that air flows into the engine or out of the engine? In other words, does the air go from the TB to the engine or from the engine to the TB? Right now I have it set-up having air only go into the engine, but I'm not sure if that's right. All the instructions said was to point the "black end" of the valve towards the TB (and that was using the TRD-supplied check valve that I did not have).

I know this topic has been addressed in other posts, but I am still unclear. Is there supposed to be a valve on the hose running from the throttle body to the top of the S/C? I did not see any other hose. Is this the 'check valve'? Does the check valve typically come in the S/C kit?

In case you check this thread first, I posted something that may help you in your other thread:

Zach - that other thread may help you as well, though it looks like you're in good hands with Gadget.
