what years are the running boards compatible with. im selling mine from my 96 on ebay and a guy with a 2002 wants them but doesnt know if they will fit.... soo what years are compatible?

Depends on the trim on both vehicles. The simple answer is yes, but the flares will determine which endcaps he'll need. Boards from a Limited will fit both a Limited and an SR5 with the colored "sport" flares. There are two different endcaps for the SR5 depending upon if he has the chrome trim flares or the matte black flares. Sounds confusing, and it is, but better to be sure before you sell & he buys.

i can tell you for 100% sure that 98s do not fit 99s, and vice versa. there are three sets of "arms" for each running board. they bolt onto 3 hangers on the underside of the 4runner. the rearmost arms are spaced differently.

as for the other years, i have no clue.
