Rota Grid Interest "TE37 REPLICAS"
For a show of hands who would be intererested in these really light wheels.
They are the volk grids from Rota.
The real ones, made my volk, are about 450 each. from upgrade motoring.

I might be able to get them for $720 for a set of 4.

I've had Rota's in my past cars. Really cheap, and pretty good quality. I'm wondering if they'd be strong enough for the 4Runner (off-road). Aren't the TE-37's forged? I know that all Rota's are cast. There have been cases of cracks and breaks on some of their wheels.
Also, what are the specs? Sizes, offset, etc. $720 seems a bit much, if these will be 16" wheels. My 15's were less than $100/wheel and 16's came in at $500/4. I spoke to a shop in So. Cal, and they said that they can custom order the wheels for any lug pattern and offset. The prices were about $10 more per wheel. I forgot the name of the shop, though.

You get what you pay for. I've owned a set of TE37s and a set of Circuit 8s. The difference in quality is night and day. Because of the quality issues of Rota's, I say avoid at all costs. I don't think I would trust them on a 4000 lb. vehicle with 33" tires.
$720 is steep for 16" Rotas, anyway.
I've been quoted $1380 shipped for a set of 16x8 TE37X's.

This is ironic, since Rota is an OEM for Toyota wheels, as well as many other car manufacturers. Cant remember the whole list, but I know Mercedes and Nissan were on the list as well.
Also, I cant back this fact up since it was passed to me on another forum, but I heard Rota had the contract for all Toyota truck aluminum wheels since the early 90s. Hope all those people running stock wheels survive

I forgot to mention, you are right about the quality difference between real Volks and Rota knock offs...it really is night and day. That just goes to show how good real Volks are though, not how bad Rotas are.
Is it just me, or do these wheels in the thread look more like Gram Light 57S's than TE37s?

Do you know if Rota offers an offset close to 0 or neg 10? It would be nice to see these sit flush with the Limited/Sport Edition fender flares... +10 probably sits within the flares just a tad.

It might actually stick out just a little. Don't know the conversion but I believe these are rough estimates:
3.75" Back space - 16x8 neg 20 offset
4" Back space - 16x8 neg 11 offset
http://www.procomptires.com/alloywheels.html
Click on any wheel. Click specs. Gives offsets and backspacing for each size.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f79/grimpys-00-t4r-4wd-limited-73558/
Grimpy's thread shows his 16x8" wheels with a 3 5/8" backspacing. It lines up PERFECT in my opinion. Awesome truck by the way.

Here's a pic of Grimpy's 16x10" wheels with 4.5" backspacing. I really like the look of the wheels protruding out of the fender flare just a tad. Much more aggressive IMHO.
I rated Grimpy's truck a 5 out of 5. He listed all of his mods with their specifications and posted pictures. Very helpful.

I realized after I posted the second picture showing the 16 x 10"s that people might get confused because it has more backspacing than the 16 x 8" wheels. Keep in mind 16 x 10"s have 2 more inches to work with folks!
To clarify:
For a specific wheel width, (not diameter)... a HIGHER back spacing translates to more of an inset rim which also translates to a HIGHER, or more positive offset. A LOWER back spacing translates to more of an outward pushing rim, which also translates to a LOWER or more negative offset. The lower the offset number, the more lip or dish you get.
Focus on the depth of the dish of the following examples. Without the additional 40mm added to the fender flares, the rims in the first example will protrude out of the Limited/Sport edition flares just a tad.
16 x 8 neg 20 offset: RUMBLES' awesome truck:
16 x 8 ZERO offset: Hourt's awesome truck: Zero is more positive than neg 20, and hence the rims do not have as much of a dish and do not protrude out of the fender flares.
I hope that clarifies things for some folks. Sorry to thread-jack Kevin.
Relevance: The proposed 16x8 with positive 10 offset should work just fine. All of this hodge-podge I posted is for us nit-picky people that like things a certain way... LOL!

They are OEM for Toyota and other car makers in PHILIPPINES. Not world wide.

It still does not change the fact that Rota is a Original Equipment Manufacturer for Toyota and several other companies. There are multiple OEMs for every part produced, Toyota passes out the contracts and the company builds the product to TOYOTA'S specs...the same specs that are given to the company that built the wheels on your truck

My girlfriend has a set of Rota Grids on her xA.
My opinion on Rota is that they're decent wheels for the price but I'm gonna have to agree with Midget's comment. I'd trust them on a little car but not on a truck.

Careful Kevin... I looked into the offset/backspacing further.
Stock 16x7" wheels come with a 4.75" backspacing. Anything with a lower backspacing will be fine... Anything higher is not recommended, especially with Tundra calipers.
16x8 with a -11 offset = 4" backspacing
16x8 with a ZERO offset = 4.5" backspacing
Extrapolating 10mm offset = roughly 0.5" backspacing...
16x8 with a +11 offset = 5" backspacing
8" wide wheel with a 5" backspacing is going to be a very tight fit. It might not work with the Tundra calipers.

Nice wheels but I'd never put them on a trail rig since the low weight isn't going to make a diff off road. TRD wheels can be bought cheaper and they look at home on a 4wd.
I would in a heartbeat slap them on my Eclipse if I still owned it.
