Rock + Foglight = Bad news

Yeah it sucks. I went to work yesterday and looked at my foglight on the way it. There it is, a big crack, right across the face of the glass light lens. I can clearly see where a rock hit and it took off from there. I have the stone sheld on, but I missed it and hit near the edge. Pissed me off big time  . So I called PIAA and asked them what to do and if it were covered under warranty (didn't think so, but had to ask). They said no, but gave me a part number and some part supply places I can get it. The MSRP for the lense is $68! HOLY ˟˟˟˟ So I called the two places that have them and they are going to run around $60 including shipping. Damn that pissed me off. Oh well, what are you going to do.

But I did have a question for those with the round Hellas. I know that they come with a clear protective cover that helps with the whole rock thing. Is it possible to buy just the cover and how/where/any part number is there? I might want to get that, put it on and put on the PIAA rock guard? Do you think that this would work? I mean they work for the Hellas and I could cut them down if I had to. Do you think that it would get too hot and melt it. Any suggestions or help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot! :fireman:

Ryan, sorry to hear what happened.
Hella's do not come with clear shields.
They come with flimsy white covers.

Go to my website and look on page one of my mods. You will see a link there on where to buy the acrylic clear covers from.

They have a few different sizes, but I'm not sure if you will be able to make them fit.
They are Hella specific.

They are strong, as mine have been on for a few years now, and without any scratches I might add.
They cover the whole lens on mine.

Cool, thanks Corey. I thought that they did come with them, but oh well. I will have to check them out sometime though, just in case. It makes me mad, because I think that I got the whole thing from a garbage truck and that costs me alot. Thanks again though. :fireman:

bummer man. you could just make your own covers??? wouldnt be hard to rig something up that you can just take off when you want to use them.. like those white hella covers. well good luck. $60 seems like a rip off... how much did the lights themselves cost you?? probably not much more than that! i hope... let me know acually, cause im thinkin about getting some foglights in the future. thanks! :pig:

The foglights were $230. I love them, they are so good and work really well, but it just sucks that I have to get the lens and all, but oh well. I would really recommend those lights. They are very good quality and put out ALOT of light! Check them out at PIAA . :fireman:

BTOWN, i JUST saw someone with PIAA light covers on thier foglights. I was driving by fairly fast in the dark, but i caught a glimpse as they went by, somehow. I'm sure of what i saw though. They looked like the Hella ones. hard white covers. they might be as flimsy as the hella ones too, but im not sure. so they are out there somewhere. maybe call PIAA and ask them specifically, because they might not be on the website for some reason. well good luck.

and seriously, make your own
