Which rig is best for me?

Hi i'm new to Yotatech, and i'm in search of the perfect Toyota for me.
I am a volunteer firefighter in Washington State and i need a 4X4 that
can get through any obstacles so i can get to calls on time. Usually when you go on a call you end up parking in a ditch. I'm not sure if i should get a
pickup or a landcruiser. I am willing to spend about $2500 to $2600 on a nice reliable 4X4. Please let me know what your opinion is. Thanks again. -Matt

Matt if I were you i would say to get the pick-up I would like to think it will be more reliable than a landcrusier, I think the landcrusiers are too big and don't get good gas milelage. I own an 89 toyota 4x4 and i couldn't be happier. You wouldn't be dissapointed with a pick-up.

Thumbs up

I definitely recommend the pickup for what you're going to use it for. A little more agile and not as bulky.

I vote truck also. Might benefit you to have a shell so you can lock up your stuff. www.trucktrader.com is a good place to look. Their search feature works well.

for that price, look for an '84-88 pickup. for some reason here in washington, they're exponentially cheaper than '89-95 trucks. you'll never see an '89-95 truck here for under 3 grand

Dont Forget the fire gear

Dont forget your bunker gear and other items.. you can go truck but you will need a place to put your gear.. a safe place.. .. look into a 4runner (if that is what every one is talking about sorry)

I really like the older Land Cruisers, but they probably are more expensive to maintain and operate. I'd look for a 1st Gen 4Runner or mini truck.

Good luck... be sure to let us know what you decide.

Oh, btw, welcome to the forum!

You a firefighter? right on. i was thinkin about a job box. Any reason not to go with that option? Thanks for all the input, i'm now stuck between a earlier 4runner and a '89 Yota Truck.

Your price range isn't very inclusive 2500-2600

If you can get an 84-85 truck or 4runner....solid axle front a little more rugged.
4Runners have alot of room......and you can take the top off if ya want.

either will work for you, but I think you'll be able to get a bit more pickup for the money than you would landcruiser.
