Revtek complete, Tires are next...

I finally got the Revtek lift on my 4runner this weekend and I am really happy with the way it turned out. I end up leaving my Cornfed rear spacers in and just used the Revtek front stuff and the diff. drops. The hotrod look that I had going is now gone, and the 4runner really looks like a lifted now.

I have definitely created plenty of room height-wise for 285 MT/Rs, but I'm a little worried that they will rub on the A-arms. With the 265s, there is about 3/4" between the tire and the A-arm. I'm going to try to get some 285s test-fitted this week and see how they fit. I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Out of couriousity, how are tire shops about test fitting tires? Is there a fee, or a deposit that you get back if you buy the tires or what??

Most tire shops just test fit a tire right there on the spot, but you can't leave the shop with the tires. They might charege you a fee to remount and balance your old tires though. 285's should fit without much problem.

Yeah its looks like they should fit I just want to make sure....hopefully I can find a tire who will give me a deal on the test fitting.

What have most of you guys paid for 285 MT/Rs mounted and balanced and everything? The best I've found locally is $828 which covers everything and includes free rotations

I got my avon SXT Mud-terrain 32x1150x15's for 460 from les schwab, includes free rotations, road hazzard warranty and a bunch of other stuff.

830 seems a little steep to me? what kind of tires? Where are you located?

In NC, goodyear wrangler MT/Rs, definitely more expensive b/c I'm gonna get them in the metric size instead of the standard American size.

OK, then 830 for MTR's is probably right around the right price range, Andy (Bamachem) Might know what a good price for those are. Unless he traded something for them like he does everything else.

Yep, Andy traded for them. Brian (waskillywabbit) purchased them originally.

I've got about 1 centimeter of space between the tire and A-arm with 285/75's.

Looking forward to the pics!

My 285s did rub the a-arm a little when I had my stock wheels, but it wasn't anything big. One thing I would wonder about though is the extra tread on the MTRs. If they don't fit I would give the FireStone DestinationMT a whirl. If I don't end up with 35s thats what I'm going to get. I hear really good things about them, plus... everyone and their mother has MTRs I don't know what the price difference is or if theres one, but damn... thats a lot of money for a MT (ie, soft compound). There is a guy down in wilmington that works at sears auto center or something that was getting us some pretty sweet deals on tires. If you want I can try to dig up his #...

Then of course I'm going to do my usual duty of inviting you to join 4Roc!! Check the sig for more info and get back to me if you want a free website!

dicount tire in raleigh test fits tires. 285's will fit fine nothing to worry about. I used to run 285's with just 2.5 lift up front no problem no rubbing and factory wheels. I have 305/70/16 witch are 33 12.50 16 just a little wider than 285's and I paid $800. Where at in nc are you at again I cant remember.
