Reversing the Daytime Running Light Disable Mod

Hi all,

I have a 2002 4Runner Sport that the DRLs have never worked on since I purchased it. I'm moving provinces, here in Canada, and the vehicle has to be inspected before I can register it. I came across the DRL disable mod here on Yotatech about cutting one of the wires on the DRL module to disable the DRLs. I checked that wire on my truck and sure enough it was cut by the previous owner.

So I reconnected the wire with a wire crimper but the DRLs still don't come on. I checked the fuse under the hood that was labeled DRL and it looks fine. Is there anything I'm missing as to how to reverse the DRL mod? Disconnect the battery for a while perhaps?

I'm moving in 3 days and I won't have access to tools so I would like to get this fixed before I leave. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What color wire was originally cut (which you crimped back together)? Could be the drl module itself has gone bad...

Well I got a new running light relay from the wreckers for $45. However, it didn't fix the problem.

I called my local dealership about the problem and they said that there is another relay above the glove box that is part of the running light electrical system. Can any one confirm this?

Did you re-insert the plug on the DRL module?

Sounds like a stupid question, I know. but I forgot to plug it back in after I did my DRL mod and lost my headlights until I realized what I had forgotten..
