resurfacing a flywheel how important?????

Well how important is it. Everybody says do it, but why?

My fly wheel looks perfect no color changes or cracks. I put a straight edge on it with a light behind it and saw no light penatrate under the straight edge.

I don't want to cheep out, but if I don't need it I don't want to have another day of down time on my DD.

thanks alot

well most people who don't have time or money and work on everything in there front driveway don't bother with it. i've threw in a few clutches in my driveway without resurfacing the flywheel its not serious unless it looks ungodly scared don't worry. on the other had its very important too do its to ensure the clutch disc with grip it smoothly and evenly. alot of people get a little vibration or shake when easing off the clutch this is dur to not resurfacing the flywheel unless its an old clutch. if you have a machine shop nearby go ahead and do it. but if your short on time then well its your call.

I'll assume you are in there replacing your clutch. If so, it makes economical and rational sense to replace the parts that go with the clutch because they probably have the same amount of life wear and tear on them as well, whether they look like it or not.

Cost $40-50 to resurface a fly wheel.

It is entirely worth the 40 bucks to resurface a flywheel when installing a new clutch. I've always had bad results when I don't do it. Also, make sure to get a 2-step job if it needs one.
