Is replacing the MAF really worth it?

There was a lot of great info in there and some great timelines of what people had tried, what worked and what didn't. The problem with it was that it was TOO long and someone going through it (or jumping in the middle) had a great chance of tripping onto BAD information.
For example, we had a lot of back & forth about power issues in that the SMT MUCH prefers to be hooked up to a constant power source versus something that you think is switched _AND_ stays hot during cranking. That issue didn't get resolved with the last holdout until the last couple of pages.
But yeah... we all try pretty hard around here to help out when we can.

I wonder in a non s/c 3.4L what it would do. I was talking about doing basically the same thing to a 3.4L T100 MAF (same one as the pictured). I would prefer one pulled from a wreck though-keep my old one pristine.

ill have an answer to that soon
im now going to tune my tacoma with the supra maf and my cams with the smt6 to see how it works out
I got a baseline run with my taco which showed 200bhp (170whp) so will see what improvement the cams do alone and some creative tuning.
60pages...wowsa...i just opened the zip i have and yea theres lots

I recieved a "modifiable" MAF the other day from a member and I have a few questions. I used a band saw to make the initial cut to remove the necked down inlet. Do I then need to cut down the "torpedo"...the venturi before the sensing wires? Or will this screw up the inlet? I couldn't tell from the pic's if the inlet was simply covered with tape or if something else had been done.

I had a feeling you were going to do this mod to it. Good luck!
