replace head bolts on '88 3.0V6?
hi all-
i have a '88 V6 that has a blown head gasket at the moment, it has almost 240,000miles on it. at 160,xxx toyota replaced the head gaskets per the recall. should i replace the head bolts when i do the gaskets, as apposed to reusing them? i can't afford ARP head studs and was looking in a $50 set i think i saw on ebay. is this a totally bad idea? [ebay car parts]

I would replace them. If the set on ebay is new and Toyota OEM, then you should have no trouble with them. If not, buy the OEM bolts (assuming they're cheaper than ARP).

These are a torque to yield type fastener. You should only use them once.
The factory manual even says replace them.
They will NOT be replaced if you have a head gasket warranty done.
They did HG warranty replacements 6 times for me on two different trucks.
One truck is leaking now and the other I did myself about 4 years ago and DID replace the headbolts, doing fine today.
I'd say, Yes, replace the headbolts.

Skip new ones, go with studs from http://www.engnbldr.com/ . I'm 99% sure he has them, even if not on his site. If he doesn't get 'em from Tim @ doa racing eninges. Better and likely cheaper than the head bolts.

i've heard stuff about how they're cut
i won't go back to using bolts after using ARP studs on this new motor...they're just superior in every way(well, except price, but that's moot since i would've had to get mine from the dealer...)
