Removing ADD System on 7.5 Diff??????
Can anybody tell me how to remove the long side of a 7.5 diff on an 88 and put it on a 91 to eliminate the ADD locking mech. I've been told you can do it and seen pics but don't know how to get the axle out of the pumpkin. Thanks for your time............ TIM

Here's another way of doing defeating the ADD. http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/add/

I used the method above to disable my ADD after I had the 83' Supra LSD Diff installed. Basically, pull the cover off, lock the ADD, and put a hose clamp in there to prevent it from coming unlocked. I just capped off the vacuum hoses, haven't had time to remove all the stuff.

There really isn't any need to remove the ADD, the things aren't prone to failure. But if you want to, just unbolt the ADD clutch case and short axle tube from the diff case, and replace them with a long axle tube from a non-ADD truck, or so I've been told. I *think* the original axle ("side gear shaft") is good to go too, but you might double check on that.

And don't forget to remove the vacuum mechanism (just to be neat) and to tie the two wires together for the switch on the ADD mechanism so your 4x4 light still works.
