Our intakes aslo don't wail like some of the other imports do when removing the silencers or opening up the intake. I think it's more noticeable to the driver than others around you.

You want to hear loud then remove the silencer on a Honda;we removed the one on my friend's Integra Type R and it was just a tad louder before the VTEC kicked over then it was pretty obnoxious.

Our 4Runners sound nothing like that or even close when the intake is opened up.

No they don't, it's not that loud at all. It's a lot more muted than some cars I've heard (like Hondas!). A had a buddy with a Integra Type-R and you are exactly right, it was so loud it was obnoxious! If my truck sounded anything like that I would have ripped that thing out and sold it ASAP. LOL

The volume of the intake under the hood is about 1 cu^ft. Even at low RPMs, that 1cu^ft will be replaced by fresh air every second. Get the RPMs up and air will be replaced 10+ times a second.

It's just like trying to heat up a room in the winter with the windows open (and on a very windy day). Not gonna work.
